Juliette Dormaar, founder of Kompassie Yoga Studio, is one of the earliest pioneers of Aerial Yoga in Europe. With over 20 years of experience in aerial arts, yoga, dance therapy, and healing work, Juliette brings a rare combination of technical mastery, artistic innovation, and compassionate teaching.
Her teaching philosophy is grounded, personalized, and heart-centered. She guides each participant with attention to alignment, safety, and individual growth — while inspiring students to discover their own creative expression in aerial yoga.
Juliette trained extensively in Montreal, Canada, with Cirque du Soleil coaches, collaborated with their artists, and lived and worked at the heart of aerial performance.(1998-2001) She also founded and directed Flyingartwork, an internationally recognized movement and acrobatics company, where she fused multiple disciplines and designed innovative performance objects for aerial work. (2001-2017)
In 2007, she became a certified yoga instructor, a natural extension of her work as a dance and movement therapist and professional acrobat, further deepening her ability to guide and transform her students. Her background in Fine Arts and Dance & Movement Therapy (Cum Laude 1996) gives her trainings depth, creativity, and transformative impact.
Her innovative approach also inspired her to design her own safe and high-quality aerial yoga hammocks, ensuring students can practice with confidence and comfort.

Review of the Level 2 training:
Angela: ” Yes! I did it! Aerial yoga level 2 teacher training at Kompassie Yoga studio in Rotterdam! 2 intensive days of hanging in the canvases. Learned many advanced sequences. To do and to teach in a safe way. With a lot of attention for technique, spotting and helping hands. The restorative exercises are so much fun to do! I love it!”
Review of the Level 1 training:
Ekaterina:”I would like to thank Juliette for organizing this amazing training. Into the reader we received Juliette has put not only “dry” information on different exercises, but she has took into account all important sides of preparing to become a aerial yoga teacher. Which helped me to get deeper understanding of different aspects of becoming a teacher. It will also be very helpful at the moment when I start teaching myself. Juliette managed the level of the whole group very professionally, giving everyone personal attention and approach. And enough practice possibilities. Evaluation on the third day included preparing and teaching 30 minutes class. Also we have studied & discussed the importance of safety measures. Juliette explained how to maintain aerial yoga studio in a safe and professional way. The studio & Juliette has everything to feel comfortable during the day! Everything has been managed great. With lots of positive energy!”
